LMGI COMPASS | Spring 2020 • 53 PAUL MESSANA: Where were you born and how did you get started in locations? MOHAMMED QAZZAZ: I was born in Palestine in 1990. I started in locations in 2013 shortly after I moved to Canada. My fi rst job was production assisting on a local Canadian TV show called Heartland. I was absolutely fascinated with fi lm the fi rst time I was on set. For the fi rst time ever, I found a job that I genuinely enjoyed. Hard work came effortlessly to me because of how much I enjoyed it. Soon afterward, I was given more responsibility, and I kept the momentum going. My supervisors started including me in more and more conversations, and that helped propel my career forward. I've experienced nothing but whole-hearted support from the people I have worked with in Alberta. Albertans respect and acknowledge hard work. They love to see others succeed. LMGI: THE NEXT GENERATION BY PAUL MESSANA They're young, smart and enthusiastic about what they do. In this occasional column, assistant location manager Paul Messana, a genXer himself, talks with the upcoming generation of location professionals on the rise.
