SOUND LIBRARIES www.postmagazine.com 36 POST JAN/FEB 2020 UNIVERSAL PRODUCTION MUSIC RELEASES ICON LABEL'S 'EVOLUTION' SANTA MONICA, CA — Universal Production Music (www.universalproduction music.com) has released "Evolution", a new album from epic music label Icon. Featuring original work from Icon co-founder Frederik Wiedmann and other top cinema, trailer and game composers, "Evolution" explores the epic genre through experimental compositions. Music for film, television, advertising, trail- ers and promos, "Evolution" is available now for sync and download through the UPM Website. "The composers [on "Evolution"] had infinite room to explore, experiment and push the envelope," says Wiedmann. "The results are spectacular and show what happens when you let great artists loose, free from restrictions." Wiedmann is an Emmy Award-winning composer and producer, who recently scored the thriller Pure from the Hulu original series Into the Dark. His credits also include the features Hangman, Stoic and Day of the Dead, and the animat- ed series Green Lantern and Son of Batman. Other contributors include British composer Gareth Coker, who scored the top-rated Xbox One game Ori and the Blind Forest, as well as Ark: Survival Evolved and Minecraft. Also featured are Zach Lemmon (The Gallows, From Prada to Nada) and Axel Tenner (Looking for Mabel Normand, Die Muse). SOUND IDEAS ACQUIRES SOUNDDOGS.COM TORONTO — Sound Ideas (www.sound-ideas.com), a Toronto-based sound effects library company, has acquired the online sound effects Website, Sounddogs.com. Founded in 1996, the first online commercial sound effects and production music library now offers a product line that includes the Soundstorm library, a seven-time nomi- nee and winner of an Academy Award for Best Sound Editing. According to Brian Nimens, owner of Sound Ideas, SoundDogs.com owner Rob Nokes "is a leader in the industry whose reputation as a sound recorder, designer and editor is unmatched; and the skill with which he has developed and grown the Sounddogs. com brand and site is remarkable. I have known Rob for decades and I am thrilled that Sound Ideas will be able to move forward with the Sounddogs.com name." "Brian was among the first sound effects producers to provide content to the Sounddogs.com site and he is still a large contributor," says Nokes. "Our friendship goes back longer than either of us might like to admit, but it gives me peace of mind to know that the Sounddogs.com site and brand will continue as a force under his direction." The Sounddogs.com site offers over 1 million sounds for immediate purchase, license and download, and it is the intention of Sound Ideas to not only maintain but grow its online presence.
