Raises a

to Napa
simple: move somewhere near
the water with a more leisurely
pace, travel and kayak.
Soon after retirement,
Salome and his wife moved
to the small town of Los Osos
on the beautiful California
central coast and life was
good but a funny thing
happened along the way.
One day, while walking his
dog, he found a sick sea lion
stranded on the beach and
after a few phone calls, he
was introduced to The Marine
Mammal Center and thus
began Salome's new journey.
Salome began volunteering
with TMMC where he is now
a crew supervisor working
with the rescue, rehabilitation
and release of marine
mammals. Salome works out
of the Morro Bay facility when
he isn't traveling the country
attending wildlife conferences
such as "Oilapalooza" for oil
spill responders. The TMMC's
main hospital is located in
Sausalito, California. TMMC
is a triage center for sick and
injured sea lions, elephant
seals, otters, fur and harbor
seals.
Salome says, "I am truly
honored to be part of this
important and gratifying
work. In between my marine
mammal work, I spend
my time volunteering on
archeological digs at the
Weber, Rashod Edwards,
Daniel Branson and Daniel
Lee. Raffl e prizes were
generously sponsored by
local production security
companies Overall Security,
Golden Bay Security and
Anderson's Scuba Diving.
LMGI membership in the
San Francisco Bay area has
quadrupled in the last two
years. This was the fi rst event
for Northern California LMGI
members but certainly not
the last.
