Among Argiro's high-profile pieces are The North Face's Question Madness, Anthem for New Balance, Citibank's Surfer and the Zayn Malik music video A Whole New World. Argiro worked on Wall Street before translating his life-long passion for creativity into a career. He took night classes at The School for Visual Arts, where he studied motion design, animation and graphic design and created short-form narrative projects. First at Blue Rock, he then went on to V2 and Union Editorial. JOSHUA STUDEBAKER Creative production studio Flavor has added CG supervisor Joshua Studebaker to its LA staff. For more than eight years, Studebaker has been a go-to freelance CG artist in the LA marketplace, specializing in design, animation, dynamics, lighting/shading and compositing via Maya, C4D, V-Ray/Octane, Nuke and After Effects. A frequent collaborator with Flavor and its brand and agency partners, Studebaker has also worked with Alma Mater, ArsenalFX, Brand New School, Buck, GreenhausGFX, Imaginary Forces and We Are Royale. In his new role with Flavor, Studebaker oversees VFX and 3D services across the company's global operations. TYLER HORTON Uppercut has promoted Tyler Horton to editor, after spending two years as an assistant editor at the NY-based creative editorial shop. Horton first joined the studio in 2017 after a stint as an assistant editor at Whitehouse Post. As an editor, he recently cut Nike's "Letters to Heroes" campaign, in conjunction with the US Open, that highlights young athletes meeting their role models. He also cut campaigns for Asics, Hypebeast, Volvo and MoMA. Horton's love of film was sparked at an early age, inspired by an appetite for watching sports reels and highlight videos. MICHAEL CIONI Frame.io, which offers a cloud-based video review and collaboration platform, welcomes Michael Cioni as its new senior VP of global innovation. Cioni is a production and post production workflow expert who joins Frame.io from camera company Panavision. He held a similar role there, where he spearheaded numerous breakthrough products and workflows, including the Millennium DXL 8K large-format camera system. At Frame.io, Cioni will lead a new LA-based division that's focused on the continued investment into cloud-enabled workflows for motion pictures and television — specifically, automated camera to cutting room technology. JIMMY HSU Colorist Jimmy Hsu has joined Encore Vancouver, bringing with him a background in content creation and color science expertise. He joins the studio from Side Street Post Production, where he began as an online editor in 2012 before focusing on color grading. Hsu's work spans live action and animated projects across genres, including features, video game cinematics and commercials for clients such as Universal Studios, Disney and Lifetime. He graduated with a bachelor's in Interactive Arts and Film Production, and went on to hold various roles in production and post. JULIET TIERNEY Nexus Studios has added producer Juliet Tierney to its growing LA team, where she will serve as executive producer for commercials and branded content. Before joining Nexus Studios, Tierney led Ntropic's LA studio as executive producer, and was head of production at Eight VFX, where her team's work was highlighted in the Oscar-nominated I, Tonya and Fox's hit show The Orville. Her career began in London production companies such as Great Guns and Love, as well as agencies, including Wieden+Kennedy, Fallon and Mother. She produced the iconic Orange Goldspot ads featuring Rob Lowe and Snoop Dogg. AMANDA FINK MANDELL New York audio studio Sonic Union has added Amanda Fink Mandell as executive producer, partnerships. She will work across Sonic Union's Union Square and Bryant Park locations, and help to foster and nurture both present and future client partnerships. Mandell has a history of strategic business development in the music and advertising industries. She was recently executive producer at Mophonics. Mandell is known for producing a star-studded, multi-singer cover of the Les Miserables power ballad "I Dreamed a Dream" for the Wildlife Conservation Film Festival's spot Dream, which earned a Gold Cannes Lion for Music. MARIA CARRETERO New York creative studio Nice Shoes has hired senior colorist Maria Carretero, who brings nearly two decades of global experience in color grading. Her work includes a wide range of feature films, short films, music videos and commercials for big brands such as Apple, Jeep, Porsche, Michael Kors, Disney and Marriott. Carretero comes to Nice Shoes from Framestore, where she spent nearly two years in their Chicago office, establishing relationships with agencies such as BBDO, FCB, DDB, Leo Burnett Chicago, and Media Arts Lab LA, among others. Some of Carretero's stand-out work includes Jeep's Recalculating and Disney's You Can Fly.
