36 SAG-AFTRA | Fall 2019 | sagaftra.org Scene Around TOWN HALL GIVES SENIOR MEMBERS A REASON TO SMILE Casting Society of America hosted a Senior Actors Town Hall at the SAG-AFTRA Los Angeles office on Aug. 23 with support from the SAG-AFTRA National Seniors Committee. The town hall conversation focused on giving senior performers better access to job opportunities. Moderated by CSA President Russell Boast, the town hall featured casting directors, managers, and performers who advocate for more and better jobs for senior performers. MEMBERS SCHMOOZE AT OUTFEST SAG-AFTRA LGBTQ Committee Co-Chair Jason Stewart, back center, joins members at the LGBTQ Actors & Filmmakers Annual SchmoozeFest networking event and mixer at Outfest in Los Angeles. Co-sponsored by SAG-AFTRA, the event took place July 27 at the Chinese Theater. SAG-AFTRA members mixed and mingled with filmmakers, writers, producers, casting directors and the casts and crews of the Outfest films. SAG-AFTRA HOSTS AAIFF BRUNCH Filmmakers and performers enjoy the fifth annual Filmmakers' Brunch at the SAG-AFTRA New York office during the 42nd Asian American International Film Festival on July 26. The SAG-AFTRA-hosted event brought together more than 40 filmmakers, festival-goers and SAG-AFTRA members to enjoy good food and make great conversation. Special guests at the brunch were from AAIFF's opening night film Yellow Rose, which included writer/director Diane Paragas and the film's stars, Princess Punzalan and Liam Booth. SAG-AFTRA, N.Y. LATINO FILM FESTIVAL HOST DIVERSITY PANEL SAG-AFTRA helped kick off the New York Latino Film Festival with an informative panel titled True Diversity in the Ken Howard Boardroom on Aug. 13. Attended by filmmakers and actors, the conversation focused on how content creators can be more conscious when parts are being written and cast, and how they can push for equal and true representation in gender, body types, ethnicity and identity. Panelists were actors Elvis Nolasco, Dominic Colon and Alexia Garcia. National Director of EEO & Diversity Adam Moore moderated. Below, Rebecca Damon with N.Y. Latino Film Festival volunteers.
