135 2 0 1 7 - 2 0 1 8 Special Olympics Delaware's summer camp was held August 4-6 at Camp Barnes in southern Delaware. SODE summer camp is one of the feature events for more than 120 Special Olympics athletes who attend the three-day, two-night sessions. Here, they can participate in many activities in a back-to-nature setting overlooking Millers Creek in Frankford. Athletes participate in several fun water activities like canoeing, swimming, kayaking and boating. Traditional camp sports events like archery, basketball, wiffle ball, and cornhole are also popular among the campers. Over 40 high school student-athletes also attended camp as part of their experience at the annual Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association Leadership Conference, in addition to more than 25 high school and college students from around the state who volunteer as counselors. A special thank you to the Lord Baltimore Lions Club for the barbecue dinner and to the local motorcycle enthusiasts who roared into camp and spent the evening sharing their bikes with the campers. 2018 SUMMER CAMP
