93 2 0 1 7 - 2 0 1 8 Supporting Sponsor ATHLETE LEADERSHIP PROGRAM Area Athlete Input Councils give athletes a way to share ideas, provide feedback and gain leadership training at the local area level. Formerly called "athlete liaisons" for their Area Leadership Team, our Athlete Input Council members convene and support their area, with the help and guidance of the area Athlete Mentor. On May 19, 2018, all 5 areas were represented at an Athlete Leadership Training workshop held at the Dover Elks Lodge. A feature of this years' training was a presentation by Bank of America entitled Better Money Habbits. Each group also had the opportunity to learn more about the mission of Special Olympics Delaware, the structure of Athlete Input Councils, as well as the many ways to help become involved at the local and program level. This is just one pathway for athletes to be educated as leaders in their areas, in addition to being spokespersons for Special Olympics.
