uring the 25th
SAG Awards,
people will
be on the
edge of their seats to see
who will take home The
Actor® statuette in the various
categories. The Actor is more
than just a trophy, however. He
symbolizes the art and craft
of acting, and receiving one is
recognition of an outstanding
performance.
The very first statuette
of its kind is on display
at SAG-AFTRA headquarters
in Los Angeles. The first
thing most people notice is
that he has no face. That's
because like any actor, he is
prepared to become whatever
character a role requires —
as symbolized by the Greek
masks of comedy and drama
that he holds at the ready.
Daryl Anderson, founding
member and current vice
chair of the Screen Actors
Guild Awards Committee,
remembers how The Actor
came to be. "We'd been
