The Local Haunts Sensor's Bar originally was only needed in a few scenes, but it grew in importance to the story, so the interior ended up being built on stage. It became Camille's de facto office. The town watering hole, where she could observe and report on everyone through a gimlet eye. It had to feel squalid and be layered with the debris of its inhabitants, down to the old missing girl posters yellowing on the walls. As in all the sets the incredible scenic department, under the direction of Steve Hagberg and John Risso, achieved a layer of grime and graffiti to distressed and beaten surfaces. Dressing by Amy Wells and her fantastic crew resulted in an absolutely authentic and dark setting. The exterior was a closed- down laundromat in Barnesville, and a matching interior was built, as were all of the other sets, at Occidental Studios in Silver Lake, CA. The barbershop and the Olympic Coffee Shop were two more sets where the visual theme of juxtaposition and layering of old D F E and new Americana dressing and design could be continued. The barbershop interior was built on stage, the front façade matching an existing storefront in town. Visual effects work melded the views and the transition from location to set.
