Some dance moves require a slick surface, while others require sticking surfaces and everything in between, so glass greenhouses, metal fountains, stone floors and statuary all need to be treated to make them work for different elements of the dance and stunts. Coca-Cola spritzed over the floor is a quick reversible trick to make a floor sticky. In Mary Poppins Returns, Mary and the kids dance in an animated world as well. This was designed and rehearsed as one would a real-world set. The difference here is that the set pieces where painted VFX green. This film is a love letter to London! The city of London embraced the film and allowed it to celebrate London with location filming at London Bridge, St. Paul's Cathedral, even shutting down the square at Buckingham Palaceā€¦ incredible! Bank Junction, the busy intersection where all the massive banks in London intersect, called for miles of roofing paper to cover modern traffic lines on the street, dozens of traffic lights being removed and covered, thirty- five street lamps being converted into period- correct gas lamps, and hundreds of modern signs being covered or replaced. The Royal Exchange Bank even got a new set of impressive ornate 16- foot tall bronze doors! By the time Mary dodged the period double-decker buses, taxis and dozens of cars, she really was in 1934! The production was on the streets, in the air, underwater, in attics, parks, banks, boats and bowls in Mary Poppins Returns! A Magical Experience! ADG A B C D A. ABANDONED PARK.
