Almost a decade after his death, Jackson's impact shows no signs of diminishing: his record sales, now well into the hundreds of millions, continue to grow, his videos are still watched and his enormous fan base remains loyal to his memory. Alongside his lingering influence as a recording artist, the questions that surrounded his fame, success, race and gender during his lifetime remain an indelible aspect of his legacy. Michael Jackson has the distinction of being the most depicted cultural figure; an inspiration for an extraordinary array of leading artists—from Andy Warhol and Isa Genzken to David Hammons and Glenn Ligon—working in a variety of styles and media. This book, which accompanies a major exhibition, examines their artistic responses to an enduring international icon. SPEECH: 20, LANDSCAPE BY ANNA MARTOVITSKAYA The 20th issue of speech: magazine will be devoted to the theme of landscape. The topic of investigation will be the harmonious interaction between architecture and nature, both in rural areas and within the boundaries of modern megalopolises. What is a modern park and what structures can be integrated into landscapes? The projects represented in this issue show a wide variety of forms and techniques for creating man-made landscapes for the twenty-first century. ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST: SHOOTING A MASTERPIECE BY CHRISTOPHER FRAYLING Christopher Frayling is a historian and critic who uses his talents to explore the ultimate Western from Sergio Leone, Once Upon a Time in the West. This book includes revealing personal interviews with all the key players in front and behind the camera on this film, never-before-published documents, designs and photographs. Frayling, also a world-renowned authority on Sergio Leone, finds the latest research into the making of the masterpiece, shot by shot. 2019 is the 50th anniversary of Once Upon a Time in the West and this book is a fantastic tribute.
