That day, a gunman walked into the offices of the Capital Gazette, a newspaper serving Annapolis, Maryland, and opened fire, killing five employees who worked in the paper's editorial and advertising departments. It was a tragic reminder to those who work in the media industry of the dangers they can face right on their home soil, far from a war zone.
