CELLAR FOCUS Vintage Sparklers by Anthony Dias Blue / photos by Rachel Burkons For the 2012 edition of our annual Holiday Sparkling Wine Tasting at gastropub Waterloo & City in Los Angeles, we invited producers from France, Italy and the U.S. to show us their best vintagedated bubblies. These wines are drinking beautifully now, but most are candidates for further cellaring. Here are my notes. Billecart-Salmon 2004 Brut Champagne, France ($100) Dry and crisp with irm minerals and elegant texture;fresh and balanced. 91 CHAMBERS & CHAMBERS Boisset 2006 JCB #39, Burgundy, France ($60) Tangy and clean with minerals, lively acidity and generous fruit lavors; charming and long. 91 BOISSET FAMILY ESTATES Delamotte Père & Fils 2002 Blanc de Blancs, Champagne, France ($95) Bright and juicy, crisp and elegant style; fresh and brilliant with reined texture and a long inish. 93 WILSON DANIELS Domaine Carneros 2008 Napa Valley ($27) Full, ripe and juicy with clean, smooth, simple lavors; bright and rounded with lots of style. 90 KOBRAND Boisset 2007 JCB #9, Green Valley of the Russian River Valley ($48) Rich and deep with burnished, ripe fruit and a long inish; balanced and generous. 90 BOISSET FAMILY ESTATES Boisset 2006 JCB #65, Burgundy, France ($60) Minerally and juicy with ripe fruit and a long, dense inish; balanced and fresh. 90 BOISSET FAMILY ESTATES 142 / the tasting panel / january 2013 Ferrari 2006 Perlé Metodo Classico, Trento, Italy ($35) Bright and juicy with minerals and fresh, tangy fruit; long, balanced, reined and quite charming. 91 Nicolas Feuillatte 2004 Millésimé Brut, Champagne, France ($46) Ripe and rich with smooth, dense fruit and a long inish; minerally, long and balanced. 90 STE.
