This month, we chatted with Heather Malpass, who was recently named U.S. Sales Manager at Spirit-France. She was previously Regional Sales Manager at Partida Tequila. T.P How would you define Spirit-France's culture and what attracted you to it? .: H.M.: First I must speak to my (maternal) French heritage. Calvados has always been a mainstay within my epicurean family culture. There is an ancestral tradition with Calvados houses passing down the time-honored techniques of distillation and maturing from generation to generation. The skill and passion of these expert distillers produces Calvados of unique quality and character; the Cellar Masters are like artists composing a masterpiece. To have the opportunity to share the story of Calvados and broaden the U.S. market for Spirit-France is pure joy! T.P What advice would you give to job seekers looking for their next role? .: H.M.: Deine your passion in the industry. Establish your career path and stay true to your goal. My personal game-changer was moving to representing an exceptional premium craft spirit beginning with my move to Tequila Partida and now my role as U.S. Sales Manager with Spirit-France. T.P If you weren't sipping Calvados, you would be drinking . . . .: H.M.: Fever-Tree Indian Tonic Water—topped-off with Calvados! Spirit-France is the world's leading Calvados producer and offers a wide range of premium spirits. www.spirit-france.com 14 / the tasting panel / january 2013
