B ONNIE NIPAR (Boldface Names) CONTRIBUTORS STACY ELLEN RICH (Boldface Names) Stacy Ellen Rich joined the CDG in 2005 and she is thrilled to be involved with the maga- zine. Her design career began with study in Florence, Italy, and flourished within the sphere of Chicago Theater, which catapulted her into the world of film. The journey has seen her through many amaz- ing experiences in media as varied as film, performance art, and music video. Additionally, Rich's designs have been on view in the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City and the Tate Modern in London. It is her pleasure to assist in compiling the fantas- tic array of accolades earned by our Guild members. Christine Cover Ferro joined the Guild in 2012 after nine years of theatre and indie work in Los Angeles. Previous stops included costume work in her adopted hometown of Miami, as well as Boston and the Twin Cities. She stud- ied theatre design at Brandeis University and Macalester College. As a lover of story- telling in all forms, she enjoys exploring the different fac- ets of Costume Design and bringing them to light in the magazine. Bonnie Nipar joined the Guild in 1997 and works as a Costume Designer for tele- vision. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, she was an art stu- dent at Carnegie Mellon before moving to Los Angeles and entering the industry. A huge fan of The Costume Designer, Nipar happily took over four recurring columns. "It's a treat to honor the latest accomplish- ments of our peers." ALEXANDR A WELKER (Strong is the New Sexy) Alexandra Welker was born and raised in New Jersey by an artist father and a mother who was an haute coutu- rier and an amateur movie buff. After studying history and English literature at the University of Pennsylvania, she moved first to London and then to New York, where she fell into Costume Design by working on student films for friends who were attend- ing Columbia and NYU film schools. She joined the Guild in 1995 shortly after she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film. She has designed over 30 features, seven television series, count- less pilots, and has been the official Costume Designer for Spinal Tap and the Folksmen since 2000. Writing for The Costume Designer is a treat because it brings her full cir- cle to her first love, writing, while celebrating her second love, Costume Design. XANDER SMITH (Cover Illustration) Xander Smith is the newest illustrator to the Guild, after having the immense pleasure of working as a concept art- ist, digital sculptor, and 3D print designer on shows like American Horror Story, Aquaman, The Greatest Showman, and Godzilla vs. King Kong. He graduat- ed from both the Concept Design Academy in Pasadena and the Gnomon School of Visual Effects in Hollywood in 2014. He uses a combination of painting, drawing, sculpt- ing, digital rendering, and 3D printing to take an idea from detailed sketch to finished costume piece. CHRISTINE COVER FERRO (Lollipop Superheroes) AM ANDA RILEY (On Location: Vancouver) Amanda Riley is a Costume Designer based in Los Angeles. After finishing a degree in fashion design at FIDM, she took her love of character and construction onto the world of Costume Design. She has been an active member of the CDG since 2007. Some of her recent projects include The CW's Supergirl, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and The Stew, a stylized 1950s short film directed by Chris Wood.
